IPCO History

IPCO History

1982

Imperial Polychemicals Corporation (IPCO) was founded by Dr. James Ja In Park in California, USA to produce composites and adhesive resins based in epoxy, acrylate, and urethane. IPCO began exporting these products to South Korea and other Asia Pacific countries.
1984

IPCO established a plant in South Korea to produce composite and adhesive resins to supply the automotive, electrical, electronic, and consumer industries. IPCO supplied adhesive and tooling resins to Hyundai Automotive to produce personal and business trucks while also streamlining costs for both sides.
IPCO then expanded from supplying these resins to also supplying fast curing epoxy resins to Samsung, Hyundai, and LG Semiconductor. Also, IPCO was instrumental in developing RAM and DRAM with these same companies.
1987

IPCO was appointed as “The most developed small and medium-sized company” by the Korean Ministry of Trade and Industry for excellent service to the advanced material industry in South Korea.
1991

IPCO formed a joint venture company called IPCO National with National Starch Company. This joint venture was created to continue IPCO’s focus in production of advanced adhesives. IPCO supplied adhesives for South Korean tobacco companies to produce quality cigarettes that competed with and enjoyed successes over many imported cigarettes.
In the consumer adhesives division, IPCO supplied adhesives to Kimberly Clark and Proctor and Gamble in South Korea to produce diapers and sanitary napkins. The composites division supplied composite resins to various aerospace and military applications. It was also at this time that the most advanced fast curing adhesives for the semi-conductor industry was manufactured at IPCO National to speed up the development of higher capacity memory chips.
1995

IPCO became the largest adhesive company in South Korea. IPCO then sold its shares of IPCO National to National Starch and continued servicing chemicals and consulting services to the electronic, aerospace and composite industries. Specifically, IPCO expanded into the reconfiguration of Boeing and Airbus aircrafts, supplying materials for Boeing and Airbus projects.
2007

IPCO added SBP, a German Structural engineering company to their list of partners to build Asiana’s aircraft hangar at South Korea’s, International Incheon Airport. The project was a huge success and has stemmed into other successful projects.
2012

IPCO partnered with Zodiac Aerospace to become the exclusive representative in South Korea. Zodiac Aerospace is a world leader in aerospace equipment and systems for commercial, regional and business aircraft, as well as helicopters and space applications.
2018

IPCO partnered with MTU Aero Engines, Germany’s leading engine manufacturer and an established global player in the industry. They engage in the design, development, manufacture, marketing and support of commercial and military aircraft engines in all thrust and power categories and stationary gas turbines.
